NERF® Demolisher 2-in-1 Blaster Review
August 5, 2014 by

I normally do not allow my kids to play with toy guns. I have never purchased toy guns for them and didn't plan on allowing them to keep any given to them as gifts, but I started to think about my childhood. When I was a kid, I was a tomboy. We played games of freeze tag, cops and robbers, dodge ball, etc. Our Nintendo (which I still own) had a gun for a game of duck hunt. Everyone owned a super soaker. I, nor my friends became criminals, so why am I keeping my kids from experiencing things I myself have enjoyed? Times have changed! Since moving to FL, I have yet to see kids playing outside. Even on sunny days, children seem to be indoors playing with something electronic. What happened?

I know we're living in a time when you have to watch your children constantly, but kids need to be kids too. So, last year I decided my yard will be the ones kids can come to. (I don't let just anyone into my home, lol) but surely, I can buy a few snacks, water balloons and encourage some outdoor fun!

The opportunity to try NERF's Demolisher 2-in-1 Blaster game came at a great time. It's not a water gun, but it does have soft Elite Missiles that travel really fast and can actually reach a target making it fun. The bottom holds a missile that you shoot by pumping the base.

"The 2-in-1 blaster also comes with 10 Elite Darts and a 10-dart banana clip allowing kids to simultaneously spray darts with rapid-fire quickness and precision thanks motorized blasting that propels darts up to 90 feet." - BzzAgent

Once the box arrived, my kids couldn't wait to open it. Actually, I was excited too. It's nothing like toys we're used to playing with. The directions were very easy to follow but we did encounter a few issues:

  • The gun jams, so we have to open the top to reset the dart. Fortunately, there is an opening on the top that makes it very easy to do so. Just pull the dart out, remove the magazine and replace it.
  • Another issue was sometimes when we're ready to shoot, we'd have to remove and reset the magazine in order to get the motor running again.

Other than those two issues, the NERF Demolisher is a lot of fun to play with. It was raining outside so we weren't able to set cans for target practice, but indoors we used their toy bowling pins and aimed at them! I'm pretty good! Can't wait for a sunny day!
