Ozeri Ultra 42 inch Wind Tower Fan Review
(Adjustable Oscillating Tower Fan with Noise Reduction Technology)
August 21, 2013 by

Look at the first photo on the right! That is the standing fan that currently sits in our dining room. It still works, but while my kids were running one day it fell and a screw from the base popped off. I keep forgetting to use a larger screw to fix it (or glue), but since we rarely eat in the dining room I only remember it there when I'm looking through the front window.

We usually have the central air running or the ceiling fans, but since school is back in session I have the opportune time to conserve energy. I'm home all day working from the computer so I can depend on the ceiling fan in the office. But, what about days when I don't feel enough air coming from it. That's when I remember my trusty standing fan...but I can't use it now that's it's leaning. Thinking of all the standing fans that are now 'resting in pieces', that's been the issue with all of them. Somehow, they all end up leaning!

Earlier this month I was offered another opportunity to review an Ozeri product. (I think I love them!) That's how I ended up with the Ozeri Ultra 42 inch Wind Tower Fan. When I saw a photo of it, I had no idea it would be so tall, but after putting it together, my first thought was WOW! It even comes with a remote, I thought only ceiling fans would! I'm not sure where in the house we'll keep it, but for now it's in the office and I'm enjoying it.

It was shipped with the base unattached. But it was simple to put together. It's easier to get the base interlocked while upside down.

After connecting the base, you would pull the cord that's connected to the fan, through the extension column (this is optional, if want the fan to stay at the height it arrives in, you'd skip this part) and then screw the extension column to the bottom of the fan. Then you would pull the cord through the base. On the bottom, there is a designated space to snap the cord into so it doesn't keep the base from being flat on the floor.

After all the screws are in, put your new fan to stand upright and that's it!

About the fan:
  • It oscillates 90 degrees.
  • Generate more air velocity with less noise.
  • 42" high with the extension column.
  • SPEED: Has three speeds (low, medium and high).
  • MODE: Has three breeze patterns, can you imagine that? (normal, sleep and nature).
  • TIMER: You can actually set how long you want your fan to stay on. They thought of everything! Set it by the hour, from 1 to 12.

Initial Use / My thoughts:

After I dusted the bits of packing Styrofoam off the fan and vacuumed the carpet, I was able to give it my undivided attention (keep your vacuum cleaner nearby!). This fan is sexy and they seem to have thought of everything, even a place to keep the remote. I remember back in the day if we had a standing fan in the room when we took pictures, we'll remove the fan temporarily because it made the background less attractive. You don't have to remove this fan because it has a very nice design.

On the box, it says no tools required, but since I was connecting the extension column to the fan body, I did need to use a screwdriver to screw in the four smaller screws. However, a screw driver was not necessary for the base screws. It was easy to figure out how to use it and the only thing I spent 3 minutes trying to figure out, was how to put the fan in "Night Mode LCD" (when every icon other than the moon is no longer visible on the LCD). I thought that feature was broken, but I realized it only worked when mode is pressed on the actual fan, not on the remote.

This fan is also supposed to be less noisy or noiseless when compared to other fans. I didn't notice any major difference in the wind sound this fan makes compared to my other standing fan, so I went to my leaning fan to do a comparison. I put the white fan on low and listened. My old fan was in fact louder, but not much louder, just a slight difference. I guess it wasn't a big deal for me because my original fan wasn't noisy either. The sound doesn't bother me at all and won't make me lose any sleep. On the low setting, it still blows pretty strong which is good for me because I live in FL. As soon as I turned on the fan the display moved up to 88 degrees. I didn't think it was that hot in here, so I checked the thermostat and saw that it said my home was 89 degrees, so this machine is good!

The only thing I wish this fan had was a lower setting than the low (the low is still pretty strong), this way papers won't move when I'm using it in the office. But, so far it's pretty good! This is only day one, if there are any changes I will update this review!
